‘Better times are coming’

3 April 2020

During these challenging times, S4C wishes to share a message of hope to its viewers in a new short film.

'Mae' is a two minute film specially commisioned by S4C, and will broadcast as part of magazine programme Heno on Friday, 3 April.

The film has been created around Mererid Hopwood's poem, Mae - a poem specially composed for the film.

Elen Rhys, S4C's Entertainment Content Commissioner, said: "We wanted to share the message of hope with the audience. We live in a time where hope is needed more than ever, and the message of the film is touching.

"Mae combines everything that's amazing about Wales – creativity, art and unity. There's a power to the word 'Mae' that can't be translated to any other language. Mererid Hopwood reminds un that there will be another day of sun, and that better times are coming."

The film is produced by Griff Lynch, and features an original musical score by Ifan Davies, of the band Sŵnami and Rich Roberts of Ferlas Studio, with Georgia Ruth and her husband Iwan Huws, of the band Cowbois Rhos Botwnnog, reciting the poem Mae.

The film will also be available for viewing across all of S4C's digital platforms.
