S4C Chief Executive reaches out to viewers as announcement of a second lockdown is made

20 October 2020

S4C's Chief Executive Owen Evans has sent a letter on Monday 19 October to S4C viewers some hours after the Welsh Government's announcement of a second lockdown.

In his letter emailed to all S4C Clic subscribers, Owen Evans explained that S4C has an important role to play in bringing viewers the latest news.

He added that S4C had invested in its news service with the main programme, now at 7.30pm with its new look and in its new studio.

He also mentioned that S4C is in the midst of plans to develop a new digital news service that will bring the latest news, any time of the day.

Owen Evans also said that S4C had a role to play in entertaining the audience and that a number of series commissioned during the lockdown period were back for another series, including Sgwrs Dan y Lloer, Y Tŷ Rygbi, Adre and Y Sioe Fwyd.

"2020 - the year we will never forget." said Owen Evans in his letter. "As we face another lockdown period, S4C will be here as company and comfort, for you throughout."

"Current affairs programs are also more important than ever before and new series of Y Byd ar Bedwar and Y Byd yn ei Le are on their way. "

"And we all need something to warm our hearts over the cold winter months and our new comedy series Rybish is bound to do that!"

On closing, Owen Evans explained that S4C Clic has developed extensively and that more Box Sets will be available to watch between now and Christmas.

"Why not watch series 1 and 2 of Un Bore Mercher, which have just been released on S4C Clic, before the final series starts on November 1st?" he said.

"Thank you all for contacting me with your suggestions, it's great to get your feedback and hear what's pleased. Thank you for your support of S4C and stay safe."
