Live music from afar

16 November 2020

It's true that this year has been a very strange year without live performances, but here's a chance to enjoy three live gigs in locations across Wales, from your own home!

Following the success of a live gig in October in Neuadd Ogwen, Bethesda, with Candelas and I Fight Lions, the Stafell Fyw (Living Room) tour will start in December and finish at the start of next year, with some of the biggest names in Welsh music taking part.

Part of the unique excitement of live music is experiencing it happening in front of your eyes, so these three performances will take place entirely on the Lŵp platform. Launched in August 2019, Lŵp is a new platform for contemporary Welsh music and culture.

On the second of December, Calan and Gwilym Bowen Rhys will perform in Yr Egin, Carmarthen. Then, on the 16th of December over at Clwb Ifor Bach, Cardiff, Adwaith and Pys Melyn will play. And finally, on the 6th of January at Galeri, Caernarfon, a set by Gwilym and Alffa.

In a year that has been difficult for many musicians and locations, this tour offers something very exciting.

Ffion Emyr, who will pe presenting the three performances says:

"2020 has been a hard and difficult year for so many, especially those involved in concerts and live gigs. Musicians, gigs, technicians, riggers - everyone! So it's so nice to be able to support and provide a platform and work for everyone involved in this tour."

To experience the Stafell Fyw fully, all three performances will happen live on the Lŵp platform on YouTube and Facebook. These gigs won't be available on demand, but it will be possible to buy and download some songs from the Stafell Fyw website after the events.

Ffion added:

"One of the most important things for me is trying to get that buzz and excitement before and after the bands perform. And also to get everyone at home to comment and tweet so that it feels like everyone is watching the gig together, but from their living rooms."

"Everyone has missed out on so many experiences, gigs and music festivals, and deserves a taste of live gigs this year."

There will be an opportunity to join in the fun by commenting and asking questions to the artists during the event on social media and by registering on the Stafell Fyw website.
