S4C Clic crosses the 200,000

8 March 2021

S4C's online and on-demand service, S4C Clic has succeeded in increasing the number of registrations from less than 1,000 at the end of March 2019 to over 200,000 by today.

To gain a better understanding of the audience and tailor content specifically for different interests S4C launched a subscription scheme at the Urdd Eisteddfod, Cardiff Bay in 2019.

As a result, the service grew to be more than just an on-demand platform, offering box-sets, archive series and specific content.

S4C Clic recently attracted almost 1,000 viewers from Turkey, with fiery drama series, Fflam attracting interest around the globe. The series features an international cast of Memet Ali Alabora and Pinar Ögün – both originally from Turkey.

S4C's Chief Executive, Owen Evans, is very pleased with the progress and investment that has taken place with S4C Clic recently by creating new functions and commissioning specific content for the service.

"Our intention with S4C Clic is to bridge between the linear and the digital," says Owen Evans.

"We have invested on the development of the service offering a number of improvements in stability, presentation and function.

"As well as being an on-demand service, we have channelled unique digital content through S4C Clic, such as the PRO14 rugby and increasingly providing a number of box sets and other content online only.

"The mandatory registration system, has helped us to be able to market directly to our viewers by email and to reflect their particular interests."

S4C Clic's developments are part of the channel's long-term digital strategy with a new Digital and Marketing Director appointed to lead on the work.
