The adventures of two unlikely friends continue ...

14 June 2021

Filming is under way on the second series of the dark comedy thriller Enid a Lucy with the drama being shown on S4C in early 2022.

Enid a Lucy is a drama full of suspense and tension with a good dose of black humour and a political and social undertone.

Eiry Thomas (The Pact, Un Bore Mercher/Keeping Faith) is back as Enid, the respectable piano teacher and Mabli Jên Eustace (Pursuit of Love, Byw Celwydd) is back as her former neighbour and unlikely friend, Lucy.

In the first series, Enid got dragged into the turmoil of drugs, cartels and crime which was threating to consume the life of her neighbour, young mum Lucy and her loser partner Denfer (Steffan Cennydd). And as Enid helped Lucy escape from Denfer and to leave home with her baby Archie, the two went on a pilgrimage that would change their lives forever.

Enid and Lucy's journey continues in the second series with Enid, Lucy and Archie now living under the same roof.

There will be several familiar faces from the first series including Denfer (Steffan Cennydd - Yr Amgueddfa, The Pembrokeshire Murders) and his uncle Sid (Nicholas McGaughey - Pobol y Cwm).

Siwan Jones (Tair Chwaer, Con Passionate, Morfydd), who has won several Bafta Cymru awards for her writing, is also back as script writer.

Enid a Lucy is being produced by Boom Cymru and Lona Llewelyn Davies is the senior producer on the series. She said: "The situation in Enid a Lucy naturally creates drama, confrontation, humour and all sorts of predicaments, especially when you consider that Denfer lives next door and uncle Sid is a regular visitor there along with Rhodri and Gwenllian arriving from London.

"But rather than a road-trip, the second series is based more around Enid's house with the various worlds in the series colliding with each other under the same roof."

S4C Drama Commissioner Gwenllian Gravelle said: "We are really pleased to welcome Enid a Lucy back to S4C. At the end of the first series there was obviously a lot more to come in the story of these two unlikely friends and the characters around them."

"Drama has been a wonderful source of entertainment for audiences during the Covid-19 pandemic, allowing them to escape from everyday life and throw themselves into a world of romance, adventure and drama – and Enid a Lucy offers all this along with a dash of humour while showing the importance of friendship."

Enid a Lucy is being filmed in locations in South Wales including Barry, Cardiff and Penarth.
