S4C appoints commissioning consultant in new role

6 July 2021

S4C has announced that Sioned Wyn Roberts is taking on the role of consultant as part of the channel's commissioning team.

The role will work towards developing content for children and young people across a variety of platforms including developing S4C's role in the field of education.

Sioned will be discussing her new role during a panel session in the Children's Media Conference on Tuesday, 6 July where she will be talking about S4C's plans for children and young people's television.

Sioned has worked as S4C's Children's Commissioner since 2012. Before this she worked for BBC Cymru's education department and as a freelance producer.

During her period as S4C's Children's Commissioner Sioned has been responsible for successful productions including Deian a Loli, Prosiect Z, Amser Maith Maith yn Ôl and Mabinogi Ogi Ogi.

S4C won a UK Children's BAFTA award for Prosiect Z in 2018 and an RTS UK prize in 2019 as well as two BAFTA Cymru awards for Deian a Loli in 2017 and 2020.

Sioned said: "I am very much loolking forward to taking on this new role.

"As the viewing patterns of children and young people change, S4C needs to ensure that content is available across a number of platforms.

"S4C's educational provision has also developed greatly over recent years and I'm looking forward to putting even more focus on this work too."

It was announced in May that Sioned Geraint has been appointed as S4C's Children's Commissioner.

Sioned Wyn Roberts and Sioned Geraint will both begin their new roles in September.
