Sgorio to show live clash from opening weekend of Genero Adran Premier season

23 August 2021

The match between Cardiff Met and Swansea City on the opening weekend of the Genero Adran Premier season will be shown live on S4C.

Sgorio will broadcast live from Cyncoed Stadium on Sunday 5 September as last year's league runners-up play host to the reigning champions.

The programme starts at 4.10pm, following the men's international match between Belarus and Wales, with kick off 4.15pm.

Sioned Dafydd (pictured) will host coverage, with Wales and Reading's Natasha Harding and coach Nia Davies providing guest analysis.

Reporter Gabriella Jukes will provide pitchside updates while Kath Morgan joins Mike Davies in the commentary box. English commentary will be available via the red button service.

Sioned Dafydd said: "What a way to start the season. Cardiff Met and Swansea have dominated the league over the least few years and they are likely to be contesting the championship again this year – although Cardiff City are closing the gap on the top two.

"These games are typical of matches between teams from Cardiff and Swansea; close, physical encounters which are exciting to watch, with plenty of tackles flying in.

"I hope we'll see another enthralling game that will set the benchmark for the rest of the season."

Again, Sgorio will follow the league throughout the season by showing highlights from one match every week.

Highlights will be shown on the Sgorio highlights show at 5.30pm every Monday and on the @sgorio social media channels.

This season, Sgorio will also launch a new video podcast focusing on all things women's football, called Gwennan a Sioned yn Siarad Ffwtbol (Gwennan and Sioned Talk Football).

Sioned Dafydd and former Wales international Gwennan Harries will co-host the vodcast and every fortnight, they will bring the latest stories from the Adran Leagues and far beyond.

Gwennan Harries said: "Siarad Ffwtbol will be a platform for the new league, as well as the footballers playing at the grassroots level in Wales, and those playing in England and across the world.

"It's an exciting time for women's football in Wales because there has been a boom over the last three or four years, with a lot more children playing the game and more interest than ever in the national team.

"Hopefully, Siarad Ffwtbol will be a source of information and stories to young girls and boys wanting to find out more about our game.

"As a teacher and former player, it's important that we give a chance for our role models to be seen and heard regularly.

"Giving girls and young women opportunities to play football, watch matches, referee, coach, that is the most important thing for me, and to give the players more of the attention that they deserve."

Gwennan a Sioned yn Siarad Ffwtbol will be released on the @sgorio channels every fortnight. For all the latest news, clips and content from Sgorio, follow @sgorio on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
