S4C releases its Christmas promo

1 December 2021

S4C has today released its Christmas promo which reflects the past year through the eyes of some Welsh animals.

This year, S4C, in partnership with J.M.Creative and Picl Animation has created a brand new animation that is sure to warm the heart and bring a smile to viewers across the country.

A range of Welsh animals will remind us of some of the past year's events in a playful and magical way.

This was the year that saw the Great Orme goats venture into Llandudno town centre and a surprise visitor settled on Tenby beach in the form of the 'Wally' of the Walrus.

We will also be invited to celebrate with a family of Puffins on Skomer Island and spend a wild night with some of Cardiff's playful gulls.

The animation is set to a piece of music that has its own magical story, the unique voice of Meredydd Evans who sings 'Santa Clôs', which was recorded back in the 40s, as part of a BBC radio drama Wales, 'Santa Claus and the Three Cabalero' by Islwyn Ffowc Elis.

The melody will be heard over all the channel's platforms with a new arrangement created by musician Steffan Rhys Williams.

Huw Derfel, S4C's Promo Producer, said: "I'm pleased that we've created a new animation, which is inherently Welsh, that will appeal to the whole family, and bring a smile to our viewers over the Christmas period."
