​27 nominations for S4C at this year's BAFTA Cymru awards

S4C has been nominated for 27 BAFTA Cymru awards this year as the list was published today on Wednesday 7 September 2022.

S4C scooped every nomination in the Entertainment Programme category, with 6 Gwlad Shane and Ieuan (Orchard), popular series Am Dro (Cardiff Productions), Bwyd Byd Epic Chris (Cwmni Da) and the successful format Iaith ar Daith (Boom Cymru).

S4C also took all the nominations in the children's category with the series Bex (Ceidiog), Deian a Loli (Cwmni Da), Efaciwis (Wildflame) and Hei Hanes (Cwmni Da).

Success also came to S4C presenters with Chris Roberts receiving a nomination for his series Bwyd Epic Chris (Cwmni Da), Elin Fflur for her work on Sgwrs Dan y Lloer (Tinopolis) and Jason Mohammad for his programme DRYCH: Trelai, y Terfysg a Jason Mohammad (Hall of Mirrors).

Cwmni Darlun won two nominations in the Factual Series category for its heartwarming series Gwesty Aduniad, as well as raw, fly-on-the-wall series Ysgol Ni: Moelwyn.

Top drama series Yr Amgueddfa (Boom Cymru) received a nomination in the TV Drama category, and two S4C documentaries managed to win a nomination in the Single Documentary category - John Owen: Cadw Cyfrinach (Wildflame) and Y Parchedig Emyr Ddrwg (Docshed).

Powerful Covid programme, Covid, Y Jab a Ni (Cloud Break Pictures) was nominated in the News and Current Affairs category and Lemarl Freckleton was nominated in the Breakthrough category for Curadur (Orchard).

Success also came to the powerful film Grav (Regan Developments/Tarian) with a nomination in the TV Film category, a nomination for Owen Thomas in the Author category and for Ryan Eddleston in the Photography and Lighting category.

In addition, Dylan Williams received a nomination in the Factual Director category for his work on Men Who Sing/Y Côr (Cwmni Da), Alun Edwards a nomination in the Factual Editing category for his work on John Owen: Cadw Cyfrinach (Wildflame), Urien Deiniol in the Fiction Editing category for her work on Enid and Lucy (Boom Cymru) and Mei Williams in the Photography Factual category for his work on Peter Moore: Dyn Mewn Du (Kailash Films).

Also John Markam was nominated in the Sound Category for his work on Cyngerdd Tangnefedd Llangollen (Rondo Media) and John Gillanders in the Editing Factual category for Huw Edwards yn 60 (Rondo Media).

Congratulating all the nominees, S4C's Chief Content Officer, Llinos Griffin Williams, said: "We are extremely proud of all the productions that have been nominated for the prestigious BAFTA Cymru 2022 awards.

"The whole list shows the quality and breadth of S4C's service across all genres, and celebrates children's programmes, drama, factual, entertainment and current affairs.

The ceremony will be held at St David's Hall Cardiff on Sunday 9 October 2022.
