Success for S4C productions at RTS Wales Awards

It was a successful night for S4C productions at the RTS Wales Awards 2024 held at the Royal College of Music and Drama on Friday 12th of April.

The awards celebrate the very best content made by students and industry professionals over the past year.

Comedy drama Bwmp won the digital original category, an Octagon production for S4C Hansh.

Bwmp tells the story of a young disabled journalist working in an ableist media world.

The best sports documentary award was won by Ifan Phillips: Y Cam Nesaf produced by Whisper Cymru.

It was an incredibly successful night for S4C's News and Current Affairs output with Argyfwng Twrci a Syria produced by the Newyddion S4C team at BBC Cymru Wales winning the News (short) category.

Lydia Griffith and Siôn Jenkins won the Multiskilled Journalism or Production category for their investigation into estate agent Ian Wyn-Jones for Y Byd ar Bedwar produced by ITV Cymru Wales.

Sarra Elgan won presenter of the year for her work in France during the Rugby World Cup for Cwpan Rygbi'r Byd, a Whisper Cymru production for S4C.

Presenter Mared Jarman was awarded the rising star award. Mared presented Y Frwydyr: Stori Anabledd for S4C which aired in November 2023.

There was also a special award for S4C's long running soap opera Pobol y Cwm.

The series will be celebrating its 50th birthday later this year.

"We are so proud of all the S4C productions that were nominated, and a special congratulations to all those who won on the night.

"The success is down to the creativeness, skill and dedication of the production teams that create our content, and we are so lucky here at S4C to be able to work with these teams throughout the year."
