Dim Ond y Gwir

Dim ond y Gwir: Alaw's review of the first episode

I was fortunate to watch the first two episodes of 'Dim ond y Gwir' at 'Y Galeri', on Tuesday 19th October.

The series is set in Caernarfon, from the start this made a good impression on me because this is the area which I come from, and a number of local people appeared in the show. The story captivated me from the onset, and I certainly wanted to know more. The first episode was really good and the characters were portrayed well.

The Karen McKay character is incredibly strong and I'm looking forward to learning more about her past, especially with Iestyn. It was effective introducing the dog character as well, as it broke up the seriousness of certain situations. The Penri character also bought humour to the story and certainly managed to make the audience laugh. On a whole I felt the casting was good and I'm looking forward to finding out more about the characters and identifying with them.

I believe that the story within the first episode has opened the series well. The scenes within the courtroom and the language used were really realistic; Gwenno Hughes and Susan Walters have created a really good programme.

Having discussed it with a friend of mine, who had also watched the programme with me, we were both in agreement that we'd prefer that both episodes were one. The programme is so good; we don't want to have to wait a whole week to find out what happens in the next episode.

I'm looking forward to watching the next episode and to learn more about the lives of the cast, especially Karen McKay and Iestyn. I believe S4C's audience will enjoy the programme and will want to know the truth and nothing but the truth!
