S4C programmes have been nominated for ten awards at the 2008 Celtic Media Festival, held in Galway, Ireland in April.
The second series of the city-based drama Caerdydd has been nominated in the Drama category, while Calon Gaeth, a period film starring Nia Roberts and Mark Lewis Jones, has been nominated in the Feature Length Drama category.
Holi Hana, the children’s animation series about an agony aunt duck who runs a helpline for small animals - which has been sold to over a dozen countries world-wide - has been nominated in the Animation category.
S4C has received two nominations in the Current Affairs category, for Datganoli, a three-part series marking the tenth anniversary of devolution in Wales, and for an edition of Y Byd ar Bedwar looking at the plight of homeless ex-soldiers.
An inspirational documentary about one man’s battle to conquer a severe speech impediment, O’r Galon: Martin Thomas has received a nomination in the Factual Documentary category.
Merch y Gadair Ddur, a documentary about a champion wheelchair rugby player, has been nominated in the Sports Profile category. The second series of Rygbi 100%, the children’s rugby skills programme presented by Wales international Dwayne Peel and Sarra Elgan, has been nominated in the Education category.
A moving documentary, O Flaen Dy Lygaid: Gadael Gofal, charting the experiences of young people leaving the care of local authorities, has been nominated in the Young People’s category. The anarchic cookery series Stwffio has been nominated in the Children’s category.
