Generous support for Philippines charity concert

18 November 2013

Over 400 people attended a special concert held at Anglesey Showground on Sunday night (17 November) in aid of the DEC Philippines Typhoon Appeal, raising £4386 for the appeal.

This amount was raised through a combination of ticket sales and further donations on the door. The concert was also broadcast on S4C the same night and viewers were encouraged to donate via the DEC phone line and website, with details shown on the screen throughout the programme.

The concert featured performances by popular artists such as Anglesey singer, Elin Fflur; Bryn Fôn; Britain's Got Talent star Paul Potts; harpist Sian James; Alys Williams, who competed on The Voice; and young singers Joshua Owen Mills and Jessica Robinson. Also on stage were two choirs made up of Anglesey's talented youngsters; Côr Ieuenctid Môn and Côr Hŷn Glanaethwy. The evening was presented by comedian Tudur Owen.

Dafydd Rhys, S4C Director of Content, says, "I would like to thank everyone who came and gave so generously at the concert on Sunday. There's praise also to the organisers and performers who gave their time and worked so hard to put on an excellent show in a very short space of time."

The concert was arranged by the production companies Rondo and Telesgop and broadcast on S4C on the same evening. The concert – Cyngerdd Apêl y Philipinau - is available to watch online, on demand, on s4c.co.uk/clic and you can contribute to the DEC Philippines Typhoon Appeal via the special phone line 0370 60 60 900; or the website dec.org.uk/
