S4C welcomes the announcement that the Cyw service has been nominated in the 'Channel of the Year' category in the Bafta Children's Awards 2012.
This is the third time in four years for the Cyw Service to be nominated in this category, the winner of which will be announced at a ceremony in London at the end of November.
Sioned Wyn Roberts, Content Commissioner (Children), says the nomination is an acknowledgement of the varied content of the Cyw service, available to children.
"It's great that Cyw is acknowledged once again as among the best services out there. These days there are so many channels and services available to children, it's a privilege to be one of the four in competition for that top spot. We've been there constantly in recent years and that reflects the fact that our service is carefully considered to ensure it appeals to children in Wales every day.
"Cyw is a modern, digital service which includes programmes on television, our website, and of course the apps which ensure that Cyw can be watched on portable devices as well. This all contributes to the service S4C offers children and families.
I hope that, because of our nominations for awards such as this, more people will tune into our exciting programmes. After all, it's the enjoyment of the audience, the children of Wales, which is important to us."
