This year at The Royal Welsh Show, the popular S4C series Fferm Ffactor will introduce a new competition which gives Wales' Young Farmers Clubs a chance to shine.
At 4.30 on Tuesday, 23 July the Cattle Ring will be completely transformed by the brand new Fferm Ffactor obstacle course.
The competitors will be used to carrying out tasks such as those on the course around the farm – collecting eggs, feeding the calves, carrying bales and putting tyres on top of the silage. But, the Fferm Ffactor obstacle course will take these tasks to the extreme, as everything is bigger, trickier and much more fun!
In turn, each of the four teams will race around the course, on foot and on an adult sized toy tractor. The two fastest teams will then go head to head in the final tasks, with victory and the super-shiny Fferm Ffactor trophy up for grabs.
The four Young Farmers Clubs taking part in the challenge will be Hermon in Pembrokeshire; Bodedern, Anglesey; Dyffryn Madog, Snowdonia; and Llandeilo, Carmarthenshire. Daloni Metcalfe will present the race and she is joined by Mari Lovgreen, who will be ringside keeping the competitors company before and after the races.
"It's always a lot of fun working with the YFC and we can expect to see a lot of running, shouting and tumbling during this event," says Daloni Metcalfe, the presenter and face of S4C's Fferm Ffactor. "We're very proud of our relationship with the Royal Welsh Show and the YFC, and we look forward to putting on an event this year that gives young people an opportunity to enjoy being part of Fferm Ffactor."
S4C Content Commissioner Gaynor Davies says, "It's good to see the Fferm Ffactor brand branching out and allowing more people to be part of the experience. I'm looking forward to seeing the Young Farmers take on the Fferm Ffactor obstacle course. It's sure to be a fun filled event."
The event is being filmed by S4C for a special programme Fferm Ffactor: Her y Ffermwyr Ifanc (Young Farmers' Challenge). A little treat to whet your appetite before the series returns in the autumn.
If you've visiting The Royal Welsh on Tuesday, 23 July, come over to the Cattle Ring by 4.30pm to support the clubs. There's sure to be plenty of laughs!
