"I find the whole process very interesting because you've got some people in there who are familiar faces on the Welsh music scene, but also some who compose privately in their spare time. It's a brilliant opportunity for them to see that their work is just as good.
"The standard of the demos we received varied greatly. Some entries were made by people who are obviously familiar with the music producing process and had the equipment to produce something of quite a high standard. But some of the other demos were nothing more than a voice and a piano, as simple as that.
"The first thing I did was spend time listening to each song over and over and noting all the chords. The next step was to produce my own demo and by then each song had taken on a life of its own.
"I then discussed each song with the composers to see if we had the same ideas for the finished song. Some of the songs have changed dramatically since the original demos.
"I also had to remember that each song had to be different, otherwise the competition would be very dull!"
