​S4C News Scholarship announced

S4C has today announced a News Scholarship with the opportunity for the winner to spend three months working for the channel's new digital news service.

The scholarship is intended to nurture and develop new voices interested in pursuing a career in Welsh language journalism.

S4C is calling on individuals who are hoping to work in journalism to apply for this new scholarship.

The successful candidate will receive a three-month contract in S4C's digital news department, having a taste of working in a busy department where stories are published throughout the day.

They will also have the opportunity to develop original news stories, to research, to interview, to write and create a digital news video.

Geraint Evans, S4C's News and Current Affairs Commissioner, said: "It's an unique time in news and this is a perfect opportunity for a person to start their career in journalism and work on S4C News' exciting new digital service.

"For a number of years S4C has offered the T Glynne Davies Journalist Scholarship.

Now, as we prepare to launch a new digital news service, this is an opportunity for us to adapt this year's scholarship, to give a person who is passionate about working in the field a golden opportunity to gain first-hand experience of working with a team of journalists, on a brand new service."

In order to submit an application, individuals will be required to carry out the two tasks below by 12:00 12 March 2021.

We want you to produce a Welsh video news story in digital style. The length should be approximately 2-3 minutes long.

We also want you to submit a 300 word Welsh language statement explaining why you should win the scholarship
