S4C has confirmed a new four-year agreement with Six Nations Rugby, securing comprehensive Welsh-language coverage of the Six Nations Championships from 2026.

Rugby legend Alun Wyn Jones has said that not speaking his own language while travelling the world is “something I’m not proud of”. Now, with a wife and three daughters who all speak Welsh at home, the former Wales and Lions captain is determined to make a change and says learning Welsh is about “knowing my roots and belonging to my country.”

Celebrated Wales international Rhys Patchell has officially announced his retirement from professional rugby. His journey, including his time in Japan and the decision to step away from the game, is captured in a new S4C documentary.
The 32-year-old confirmed the news ahead of a three-part documentary on S4C, Rhys Patchell: Japan a’r Gic Olaf (Rhys Patchell: Japan and the Last Kick) which begins on S4C on 24 September at 20:25.

S4C's viewing hours across its digital platforms are at an all-time high. In its 2024-25 Annual Report the broadcaster notes a 7% increase in viewing across Clic and iPlayer since last year, with 14% of all S4C viewing now taking place across Clic, iPlayer and YouTube.
