Seiriol Dawes-Hughes appointed S4C’s Sports Commissioner

7 August 2026
S4C is pleased to announce the appointment of Seiriol Dawes-Hughes as its new Sports Commissioner.

Seiriol is a familiar name to many in Welsh sports broadcasting as Executive Producer of Sgorio, S4C’s flagship football programme, produced by Rondo Media.

Seiriol has enjoyed a successful career since joining Rondo as a researcher, progressing through the roles of producer, director and ultimately department head while helping to build the outstanding Sgorio team.

The announcement follows Sue Butler’s decision to step down from her role as S4C’s Sports Commissioner after twelve highly successful years at the helm, during which the channel has become known as the Home of Welsh Sport.

Sue is expected to work closely with Seiriol during a transition period, which is likely to take place later this year.

Seiriol Dawes-Hughes said: “I am very much looking forward to joining S4C at an exciting time for the channel.

“Sport is a key part of S4C’s offering and I am looking forward to working with the production sector to maintain S4C’s place as the Home of Welsh Sport across all platforms.

“I would like to thank S4C for the opportunity to join the team, and my colleagues at Rondo for eighteen very happy years of collaboration.”

Welcoming Seiriol to the role, S4C’s Chief Content Officer, Llion Iwan, said:

“We are delighted that Seiriol Dawes-Hughes is joining S4C’s commissioning team, bringing exceptional experience as a producer as well as a deep and insightful understanding of the digital landscape.

“I look forward to working with him as we build on the outstanding work Sue Butler has delivered over recent years.”
