Education

Our approach is rooted in a simple belief: we're everyone's S4C. We are committed to inspiring, representing and connecting people across Wales; we emphasise accessibility and inclusion, ensuring all learners see themselves reflected in what we create and the stories we tell.

Our Social Purpose Team plays an active role in supporting the growth of Welsh speakers, with a strong emphasis on real-world relevance.

Our vision

We will seek to support education in Wales through:

  • Being the leader in Welsh-language entertainment for children and young people.
  • Supporting the use of our content in classrooms and independently by learners throughout Wales.
  • Playing a central role in developing confident Welsh speakers in a digital world.
  • Facilitating interactive and curriculum-aligned learning experiences based on our content.

Work Experience Opportunities and Support

Supporting future talent is important to us because it helps young people see a place for themselves within the media industry, highlights the value of Welsh language skills, and allows us to invest in the next generation of our workforce.

We also work in partnership with key organisations across Wales to help ensure young people have clear information about relevant pathways into the sector.

  • The production sector

    Production sector

    S4C is a commissioning body, which means that we don’t produce content ourselves: the programmes and content you see on our platforms and channels are made by production companies across Wales.

    If you’re looking for these work experience opportunities (e.g. being on set; technical roles such as camera or make-up; production roles such as editing or directing) we suggest you contact production companies directly.

    • Work experience with S4C

      For those aged 18 and over who are interested in more corporate work experience such as legal or financial, people and culture, communications (including social media), access services and archiving, we offer placements three times a year.

      • Educational visits

        Educational Outreach Visits for Schools and Colleges

        We offer educational outreach visits showcasing S4C content and helping to foster connection to and ownership of the Welsh language. These focus on key priority areas aligned with Adnodd: literacy, fairness and anti-racism, and well-being.

        All sessions make use of S4C content, are tailored to each setting and include fun activities designed to maximise engagement. Our aim is to create inclusive, memorable experiences that connect S4C content, education and identity in meaningful ways.

        We aim to reach all areas of the country, and prioritise schools and colleges that haven’t been visited by us before and/or are in areas of higher socioeconomic deprivation. We will also visit English-medium schools to support their development of the Welsh language.

        • Hwb

          Educational Resources

          We have a dedicated S4C streaming channel on the Welsh Government website Hwb, where every school, teacher and pupil can access a wide range of curriculum-linked content quickly and easily. Take a look at Hwb to see which past and present programmes and content you can stream as part of your curriculum. You can also access our content on Clic, iPlayer and our social media channels.
