S4C will bring all the excitement of the Garreg Las National Eisteddfod to viewers across its platforms. There will be something to entertain everyone of all ages who want to enjoy the spirit of the Eisteddfod from home. 

From competitions and the arts to concerts and gigs, the S4C presenting team on the maes in Llantwd, north Pembrokeshire, will guide audiences through the wide range of activities taking place each morning, afternoon, and evening.   

S4C will also have original content across its digital platforms, bringing all the fun from the Eisteddfod field. From Instagram stories to TikTok videos, something will be sure to strike a cord with viewers. 

Heledd Cynwal, Elin Llwyd and Tudur Owen will kick off the day with the morning programme, exploring the Maes and bringing updates from the Pavilion competitions. In the afternoon, Nia Roberts will be at the helm in the studio, with Lloyd Lewis and Eleri Sion out and about across the maes. Evening coverage will be presented by Trystan Ellis-Morris and Elin Fflur, who will showcase the competitions and live performances, while also recapping the day’s highlights. 

Viewers won’t have to miss a moment of the Pavilion competitions either, thanks to a special stream, Sedd yn y Pafiliwn (seat in the pavillion) available on S4C Clic and the S4C page on BBC iPlayer. Literature lovers can also enjoy nightly programmes from the Y Babell Lên (literature tent), in the company of Tudur Owen. 

S4C’s Chief Content Officer, Llion Iwan, said:

As usual, the Eisteddfod’s Cymanfa Ganu (congregational hymn singing) will take place on the opening Sunday evening at 8.00pm. Daniel Rees will lead the event, accompanied by performances from the Festival Choir. Viewers can enjoy the full event in Y Gymanfa Ganu programme on Sunday 2 August. 

On Monday 3 August at 8.00pm, S4C will broadcast, Sefyll ar y Sgwâr from the Pavillion, featuring performances from the Eisteddfod’s choir. Sefyll ar y Sgwâr is a brand new musical inspired by the songs of the Cardigan band, Ail Symudiad. The production celebrates the contribution and legacy of Richard and Wyn Jones, members of Ail Symudiad, to the Welsh music scene. 

To round off the week, S4C will broadcast a special Super Furry Animals concert on Saturday 8 August at 8.30pm. This year marks the first time the iconic group has performed at the National Eisteddfod in 30 years. 

Then, at 9.30pm, there will be another opportunity to watch the documentary Ffa Coffi Pawb!, which follows the journey of the band 'Ffa Coffi Pawb' through the Welsh language music scene of the 80s and 90s to the rise of the Super Furry Animals. 

Familiar local faces will guide viewers around the Garreg Las area in a preview programme, Rhagflas yr Eisteddfod airing Friday 31 July at 6.30pm. 

On the first Saturday of the Eisteddfod (1 Awst) at 19.00, a special edition of Am Dro Steddfod! features four stars from the area - Archdruid and poet Ceri Wyn Jones, presenters Dot Davies and Mirain Iwerydd, and actor Iwan John, exploring the home of the Eisteddfod.  

Some of S4C’s other live programmes will move their studio to the National Eisteddfod next week.  Magazine programme Heno will be broadcast live from the Maes on Monday 3 August, while Pawb a’i Farn, the current affairs discussion programme, will broadcast from there on Wednesday 5 August at 21.45. 

English subtitles will be available on all programmes, and this year, for the first time ever, viewers will be given the option of Welsh-language subtitles on a selection of the Eisteddfod’s programmes, including Croeso i’r Eisteddfod, the Sefyll ar y Sgwar concert, Y Babell Lên programmes, and the Super Furry Animals gig. 

For those attending the festival, many events will take place at the S4C stand throughout the week. A special party marking the return of one of S4C’s most iconic characters to the screen will take place on Monday. On Tuesday, there will be a major announcement at midday, followed by a question-and-answer session with the cast of Cleddau in the afternoon. On Wednesday, a new resource aimed at future journalists will be launched, while Cân i Gymru will take centre stage on Thursday with a performance from the 2026 winner, Sara Owen. A special announcement regarding Cân i Gymru 2027 will also be made on Thursday at the stand. 

On Friday, visitors will have the opportunity to meet Elin Fflur and the stars of the second series of the dating show, Amour & Mynydd. To conclude a busy week of activities, S4C Miwsig will present a performance by Aleighcia Scott.  Visitors to the Eisteddfod are very welcome to stop by the stand to enjoy the activities.
