S4C announces Lakeside World Darts Championships coverage and line-up

Following the success of its darts coverage in June and August, S4C will be broadcasting the WDF World Darts Championships at Lakeside for the first time.
Live coverage begins Wednesday 3 December, and continues through to Sunday 7 December, with a mix of streaming and linear broadcasts across S4C, S4C Clic, BBC iPlayer and the S4C Chwaraeon YouTube channel.
Highlights include:
- Wednesday 3 & Thursday 4 December - Men’s and Women’s Second and Third Rounds
- Friday 5 December - Quarter Finals
- Saturday 6 December - Semi Finals across all categories (Men’s, Women’s, Open Youth, Girls)
- Sunday 7 December - Finals Day live from Lakeside
Organised by the World Darts Federation (WDF), the tournament features players from all over the world competing for the title of World Champion. The Lakeside venue, synonymous with darts worldwide, is preparing to host World Championship darts for the 38th time.
This year’s coverage is presented by Sioned Dafydd and features a full commentary team across both Welsh and English broadcasts.
The Welsh commentary team is led by main commentator Gareth Roberts, with Rhys ap William covering selected matches and Dylan Williams contributing as darts specialist throughout the week. Rhian O’Sullivan, Welsh Classic and Dutch Open champion and a two-time Lakeside women’s finalist, will compete on Thursday night and join the commentary team on any day she’s not playing.
The English commentary team is headed by Dan McCarthy, with additional commentary from Rhys ap William, Six Nations champion Laura Turner, and 2015 World Darts Champion Scott Mitchell.
Together, they will guide viewers through five days of live action on the biggest grassroots darts tournament in the world.
The World Championship titles that will be decided at Lakeside this year are the Men’s, Women’s, Open Youth and Girl’s - with coverage of all finals featuring as part of an extended live broadcast on Sunday.
