Hansh: Call for ideas - 5 x 20’ Reality Series: Cordia

Following the success of Tanwen & Ollie, S4C is seeking a production company to create a new 5 x 20’ reality series featuring Cordia, the band from North Wales.
The content will be digital-first, appearing on S4C’s digital platforms.
Cordia has agreed to grant S4C exclusive access to their lives during the summer of 2027. There is no need for companies to contact the band directly; we are looking for the best idea and creative team to make the most of the access we have already secured.
The best proposals will be invited to present a live pitch at the TAC/S4C conference in Llandudno on 5 November 2026.

Why Cordia? Why now?

The Cordia story goes back over a decade. Friends since their school days on Anglesey, Ffion Wynn, Ffion Elin, and Manon began performing together when they were young. They took part in *Brwydr y Bandiau* (Battle of the Bands) and *Cân i Gymru* (Song for Wales) before life took the three of them in different directions.
After releasing their debut album, ADFYW, and a busy summer of gigs, 2027 promises to be another big year. They will be writing and recording a second album with Côsh, performing over the summer, and deciding what comes next for Cordia.
But this series is just as much about their lives off-stage.
Ffion Wynn balances the band with a career and a relationship and is preparing to get married at the end of the summer.
Manon is a mother of two young children, while her husband spends periods working away from home.
Ffion Elin has recently moved to Caernarfon and says that returning to Cordia has filled a void that had been in her life for years.
Surrounding them are the rest of the band, partners, children, parents, and a close-knit group of friends—a wider world with the potential to become an important part of the series.
The band is heading in one direction. Their lives are heading in several other directions.
That is the tension that interests us.

The series

We don’t want a traditional music programme or a five-part band profile.
We want a warm, funny, and energetic reality series.
Cordia’s gigs and work on the new album will provide a natural backbone for the summer, but we want to go further than that.
At home. In the studio. On the way to gigs. In the car. With the children. With their partners. On a night out. Backstage. The morning after…
The three of them have been friends for years. By now, they have very different responsibilities, relationships, and ambitions.
How do you make a band work when real life is happening at the same time?
And what happens to a friendship when the band starts getting serious?

Summer 2027

A number of natural storylines are already on the horizon:
A second album, a photoshoot, a summer of gigs, Ffion Wynn’s hen do in June, and her wedding at the end of August.
We want producers to consider how these events can generate momentum for the series and what other storylines might develop around them.
By the end of the five episodes, the audience should feel as though they have spent a summer with Cordia and got to know the people behind the band.

Heightened reality

There is a need for a clear element of heightened reality.
That doesn’t mean manufacturing drama. It means devising situations that allow the personalities, the friendships, and the differences between the three of them to come to the fore.

  • What can we put in the schedule?
  • Where can we take them?
  • What can take them out of their comfort zone?
  • What will be funny, unexpected, or uncomfortable?
  • And what can we see in the series that Cordia wouldn’t share on their own social media?

We want the production companies to bring us specific ideas.
Does this imply a mix of elements and styles—are we looking at a mockumentary, a scripted series, or an unscripted series? It’s an opportunity for us to have some fun.

Tone

The series should be fun, intimate, honest, and full of energy.
At its heart is the relationship between the three of them—the jokes, the old stories, the tensions, the families, and all the little things that come from knowing someone for years.
We want a series that offers something new to Cordia fans yet is just as entertaining for someone who has never heard of the band.
It is Cordia that gets us through the door.
It is the characters and the relationships between them that make us stay.

What we want in the proposal

There is no need for a detailed plan of every episode at this stage.
We want to know:

  • What is your idea for Cordia as a reality series?
  • What will drive the 5 x 20-minute episodes?
  • How will you use the summer of 2027 to shape the series?
  • How will we get to know the three women and the people around them?
  • What ideas do you have for heightened reality?
  • What will the series look and feel like?
  • Why is your team the right one to make the most of this access?
  • Why would an audience unfamiliar with Cordia want to watch the next episode?

The access is there. The characters are there. A big summer lies ahead of them.
We are looking for the idea that will turn that into a brilliant reality series.

Budget

Up to £160,000 for the series.
There is no need to submit a detailed line-item budget at this stage, but please bear in mind that UK-only music clearance costs will need to be factored in.

How to pitch an idea

Each pitch must be in the form of a slide deck, including:

  • A strong, clear title
  • A one-line strapline
  • A clear explanation of: why Hansh? why now? who does it appeal to? and why is it relevant to that audience?
  • Visual suggestions (thumbnails)
  • A 360-degree content package
  • Some information about the key creative team

If you are interested, please send your idea to syniad@s4c.cymru by 12.00 on 22 October 2026.
Submissions should be in PDF format. We will confirm receipt of the idea by email.
S4C’s production website offers useful information, including technical and contractual details, as well as contact information should you have any questions regarding production processes.
Guto Rhun, Young Audiences Commissioner, will decide on a shortlist on 28 October; successful applicants will be invited to present their proposals—including the budget—to a panel during the annual TAC/S4C conference in Llandudno on 5 November 2026. We will notify the successful company shortly after the conference.
We reserve the right to amend the timetable and will communicate any changes via email. If successful, the idea will need to be submitted via S4C’s ‘Cwmwl’ commissioning system; this should not be done prior to receiving an invitation
