Guto Rhun has been appointed S4C’s Digital Content Commissioner – a new role with responsibility for developing and delivering the broadcaster’s digital and multi-platform content strategy. He will work across S4C and the production sector to commission creative content for digital platforms, strengthen S4C’s presence on platforms such as YouTube, and attract new audiences.
This new role will play a key part in delivering S4C’s ‘More Than a TV Channel’ strategy, extending the reach of Welsh-language content beyond traditional television, engaging audiences wherever they consume content, and ensuring S4C remains relevant in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
Guto brings extensive experience from his role as S4C’s Young Audiences Commissioner and has played a leading role in developing the organisation’s digital content. Through Hansh and productions such as Bar Hansh, GISDA: Drws i’r Digartref, Teth and Gwagle, he has expanded S4C’s reach among younger audiences while nurturing new talent and voices and pioneering innovative ways of presenting Welsh-language content.
Speaking about his appointment, Guto said:
“I’m incredibly excited to have the opportunity to take on this role. Over the past few years, I’ve had the privilege of working with creative and ambitious people, innovating and trying new ideas while helping to expand S4C’s reach.
“The digital world is changing rapidly, and I see that as a huge opportunity. I want to continue encouraging creativity and ambition, creating content that feels relevant to today’s audiences and ensuring that the Welsh language thrives on the platforms people use.”
S4C’s Chief Content Officer, Llion Iwan, added:
“Guto’s appointment is an important step in delivering our More Than a TV Channel vision, ensuring that S4C reaches audiences wherever they choose to watch content and strengthening the presence of the Welsh language on the most important digital platforms.”
