Guide to Activating English Commentary on S4C when Rights Allow It

  S4C Clic

  On the S4C Clic platform, when an English commentary option is available it can be selected by opening the icon below and selecting it from the menu.

  BBCiPlayer

  On the S4C page on BBCiPlayer, when an English commentary option is available it will appear under 'Featured on S4C' with 'English Commentary' indicated in the title.

English Commentary available on other streaming platforms

• Sky Q

  Please note that menu systems may vary depending on your device. The following is a general guide to changing the audio language for Sky Q:

  1. Press the Home button
  2. Navigate to Settings and press Select
  3. Navigate to Set Up and press Select
  4. Navigate to Preferences and press Select
  5. Navigate to Audio Language and change your preferred language from English to Welsh.

  Note: Please ensure that Audio Description is switched Off. Once this is done, your preferred language commentary should activate automatically without any further input. This change will not affect any of your other channels.

• Virgin Media

  Please note that menu systems may vary depending on your device. The following is a general guide to changing the audio language on Virgin TiVo:

  1. Press Info
  2. Navigate to Audio and press OK
  3. Change the language setting from its default to your preferred option:
     • For English commentary, select "English" and press OK
     • For Welsh commentary, select "Welsh" or "Cymraeg" and press OK
  4. Press OK to confirm
  5. Exit the Menu

  Note: The default audio language on Virgin TiVo is set to English. However, as S4C broadcasts in Welsh by default, you may need to manually select your preferred language. 

• Sky Glass

  Please note that menu systems may vary depending on your device. The following is a general guide to changing the audio language on Sky Glass:

  1. Press the Home button
  2. Navigate to Settings and press Select
  3. Navigate to Picture & Sound and press Select
  4. Navigate to Sound and press Select
  5. Navigate to Audio Language and change your preferred language.

• Freesat

  Please note that menu systems may vary depending on your Freesat receiver. The following is a general guide to changing the audio language:

  1. Press Menu, Home, or Set Up (depending on which is available on your device)
  2. Navigate to Settings, Set Up, or Language and press OK or Select
  3. Navigate to Audio Language, Favourite Audio, or Language and press OK or Select
  4. Change the language setting from its default to your preferred option.

  Note: The default audio language on Freesat is set to English. However, as S4C broadcasts in Welsh by default, you may need to manually select your preferred language. 

• Freely

  Please note that menu systems may vary depending on your TV manufacturer. The following is a general guide to changing the audio language on Freely:

  1. Press Menu
  2. Navigate to Settings and press OK or Select
  3. Navigate to System and press OK or Select
  4. Navigate to Language and Location and press OK or Select
  5. Navigate to Audio Language and press OK or Select
  6. Choose your preferred language from the list.

  Note: If you are a first-time S4C viewer on Freely, English language commentary may be set as the default. To switch to Welsh language commentary, follow the steps above and select "Welsh" (or "Cymraeg") at step 6.

• Freeview

  Changing the audio language on Freeview is straightforward. Simply press the Red Button on your remote control and select your preferred language.

• Sky+

  Changing the audio language on Sky+ is straightforward. Simply press the Red Button on your remote control and select your preferred language.
