Guide to Activating English Commentary on S4C when Rights Allow It
English Commentary on S4C Clic and BBC iPlayer
Programmes where English commentary is available can be watched on the S4C Clic or (usually) BBCiPlayer service.
S4C Clic
On the S4C Clic platform, when an English commentary option is available it can be selected by opening the icon below and selecting it from the menu.
BBCiPlayer
On the S4C page on BBCiPlayer, when an English commentary option is available it will appear under 'Featured on S4C' with 'English Commentary' indicated in the title.
Note that this service is only available for live programmes - not on demand
English Commentary available on other streaming platforms
Sky Q
The steps for changing the settings on a Sky Q system is to:
1. Press the home button.
2. Go down to settings press select.
3. Go down to set up and press select.
4. Go down to preferences press select.
5. Go to audio language and change the setting from English to Welsh.
6. You will need to ensure that Audio Description is switched "off", and then you should automatically get English language commentary without needing to press anything else. This won't affect any of your other channels.
Virgin Media
In order to change to English commentary on Virgin TIVO:
1. Press Info.
2. Scroll down to Audio.
3. Press OK.
4. Change the language to Welsh (Because the default audio setting is set to English and as the default audio for S4C is Welsh it is put on the default for the box. Changing it to Welsh will activate the English for you).
5. Press OK.
6. Exit the Menu.
Sky Glass
The steps for changing the settings on a Sky Glass system is to:
1. Press the Home button.
2. Scroll to Settings and press Select.
3. Scroll to Picture & Sound and press Select.
4. Scroll to Sound and press Select.
5. Scroll to Audio Language and change the setting from English to Welsh.
Freesat
With Freesat all systems vary as what exactly is shown in the menu system. A general guide is to:
1. Press Menu, Home or Set up button (depending on which is available on your own system).
2. Then find either Settings, Set Up or Language and press OK or Select.
3. Find Audio Language, Favourite Audio or Language and press OK or Select.
4. Change the setting which should be set to English as default to Welsh This is because the default audio setting is set to English and as the default audio for S4C is Welsh it is put on the default for the box. Changing it to Welsh will activate the English for you).
Freeview
On the Freeview systems it should be as easy as pressing the Red Button on your Remote Control and selecting English.
Sky+
On the Sky+ systems it should be as easy as pressing the Red Button on your Remote Control and selecting English.
