TV search for top Wales farmer

21 July 2009

S4C has officially launched its search for Wales’ Best Farmer at this week’s Royal Welsh Show.

Cwmni Da, the producers of the new S4C series Fferm Ffactor, have revealed the presentation and judges team as they intensify their drive to find ten top contestants to compete for the title of Wales’ Best Farmer and a prize of a brand new 4x4 Isuzu Rodeo Denver vehicle.

The judges are popular S4C presenter Dai Jones, Llanilar of Cefn Gwlad fame, Professor Wynne Jones, Principal and Chief Executive of Harper Adams University College, Shropshire, with presenter Daloni Metcalfe there to keep everyone in order.

“I’m looking forward immensely to being a judge on this exciting new series,” said Dai Jones. “It will be an opportunity for viewers to see how varied and challenging the farmer’s job is these days and how much the industry has developed in recent years.”

Every week on Fferm Ffactor, the contestants will be tested on a range of skills in the agricultural field. They’ll have to tackle challenges such as separating sheep, driving a tractor and judging livestock.

In another weekly challenge, they’ll be tested on their skills beyond the farm’s boundaries, as they get their chance to show their team leadership, negotiation and marketing skills.

At the end of each programme, the judges will face the tough job of eliminating one competitor and shattering his or her title dreams
