New app lets you make the most of the Urdd Eisteddfod

22 May 2013

As the 2013 Pembrokeshire Urdd Eisteddfod draws near, a new app has been released with the aim of helping visitors to make the most of the activities at the festival.

App yr Urdd is a brand new project which has been developed especially for the 2013 Urdd Eisteddfod and is a joint venture between the Urdd and S4C.

The app is completely bilingual and contains a map of the Maes, a timetable of events and competition results. You can plan your day by creating your own timetable, and keep and eye on the weather with the latest forecast. And as the week’s competitions progress, you can use the app to watch video clips of stage performances on your phone.

App yr Urdd is available to download free for iPhone and Android phones. For more information and to find out where you can download the app, visit the Urdd website – urdd.org/eisteddfod/ap-urdd

Huw Marshall, S4C Digital Manager, said, "We were glad to work with the Urdd to develop App yr Urdd. It’s a handy tool, full of useful resources, and is an excellent example of how popular events like the Urdd Eisteddfod can make the most of the latest technologies."

S4C programmes will bring the events of the 2013 Urdd Eisteddfod to your screens, including, for the first time, a red button service for non-Welsh speakers on live broadcasts.

The coverage begins with the opening concert on Sunday 26 May at 8.30pm. Then all week, from Monday 27 May to Saturday 1 June, live coverage from the Maes will begin at 10.00am. As well as evening highlights programmes, the live competitions will continue on Monday, Thursday and Saturday nights.

S4C is on the Maes too, with fun shows and activities for youngster with Cyw and Stwnsh. Go to s4c.co.uk/caban to download and print your copy of the S4C pavilion timetable.
