Innovation Guru to launch Digital Innovation Week Wales 2014

25 March 2014

Digital Innovation Week Wales 2014 is launched this week with a high-profile visit from one of the world's foremost thought leaders in the digital field.

César A. Hidalgo from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology is the special keynote speaker at the launch event held at 5.00pm on Thursday 27 March at the Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff Bay.

The launch is open to the public and to attend, you must register in advance by contacting Nia Evans on nia.evans@s4c.co.uk or 02920 741 460.

The launch will reveal details about Digital Innovation Week Wales 2014 which is held on 7 to 11 July, in partnership with several companies in the creative and digital sector: S4C, BBC Cymru Wales, Cardiff Council with BAFTA Cymru, Welsh Government, Nesta, Creative Skillset, Arts Council of Wales and Film Agency for Wales.

The event follows on from the Cardiff Digital Week held last year, which attracted over two thousand visitors.

César A. Hidalgo is the head of the Macro Connections group at MIT Media Lab. His most recent work applies big data tools to the evolution of human culture over five thousand years. Previously he’s worked on projects as diverse as crowdsourcing the ingredients that make city-scapes attractive and demonstrating how to use export data to predict what economic sectors a country should move into next. He was selected by Wired Magazine in 2012 as one of 50 people most likely to change the world.
