S4C to broadcast highlights from Sweden v Wales

31 May 2016

The last time Wales reached a major international tournament was in Sweden in 1958 – and so it is extremely apt that the national side will head for Sweden for their last warm-up match before the Euro 2016 championship.

And S4C will be showing highlights of Sweden v Wales on Sunday, 5 June before the team head to France.

Less than a week before their first game in the Euro 2016 finals against Slovakia, Chris Coleman's side take on Sweden at the Friends Arena in the capital Stockholm.

Highlights of the match will be shown on S4C, with presenter Dylan Ebenezer joined by former Wales internationals Owain Tudur Jones and Dai Davies in the studio. Nic Parry and Malcolm Allen will be in the commentary box.

"It's been decades since any of Wales' friendly matches has received this level of attention," says Dylan Ebenezer.

"Less than a week to go until the Euros, playing against another country who are in the finals, taking on Sweden's mega star Zlatan Ibrahimovic – this game will be massive."

Gareth Bale will be back in the fold for Wales after featuring in the Champions League Final in Milan and Dylan believes Chris Coleman should pick his best possible eleven.

"I think this is a good time to play our strongest team – there's no secret who makes up our strongest team and there's no point holding anyone back now.

"With Joe Ledley possibly missing out due to injury, it's easy to assume Andy King will replace him. But you never know with Chris Coleman and Osian Roberts; they may well go for someone like David Vaughan, who they know is another hard-working player.

"They may also use a lot of substitutes in the second half – those fringe players will surely be desperate to make an impression just before the Euros."
