Today on Prynhawn Da the award winning poet Robat Powell will be remembering Gerallt Lloyd Owen.

On Saturday, 19 July at 9.30pm the docu-film Gerallt will be shown again, with another chance to watch the programme on Monday (21 July) at 10.00pm, with on-screen English subtitles. The docu-film won a 2013 Bafta Cymru Award in the Single Documentary category, and at the 2014 Celtic Media Festival Awards the docu-film came up top in the Arts Film category, and also won the festival's main prize – The Spirit of the Festival Award.

S4C’s Director of Content Dafydd Rhys said:

“I was extremely sad to hear about Gerallt’s death, Wales and the Welsh language has lost one of its great poets. The recent portrayal of him on S4C was a rare chance to catch a glimpse of an astonishing man - what drove him, what inspired him and what indeed disappointed him during his life. The works of this great man will be treasured and remembered for generations to come. It's only right that we as S4C broadcast programmes to remember the contribution that Gerallt made after his passing.”

“I would like to offer my condolences to Gerallt’s family and friends in their loss.”
