S4C takes the Royal Welsh across the globe

18 July 2014

This year S4C has ensured that people all over the world can enjoy the Royal Welsh Show in Llanelwedd, one of Europe’s largest agricultural shows.

As well as the coverage on the Channel, S4C will provide three live feeds on the S4C website during the Show, including S4C's live broadcast, all the competitions from the main ring and the shearing competitions – all of which will be available to watch worldwide.

By visiting s4c.co.uk/ysioe between Monday 21 July and Thursday 24 July you can watch all the action – and select either Welsh or English language commentary on the three streams.

S4C will also be broadcasting live from the Show between 9 and 5 every day on the Channel, with highlight programmes in the evenings. Viewers will be able to select English Commentary on the daytime programmes and English subtitles on the evening programmes. The Channel’s television broadcasts will be available on a range of platforms in Wales and the rest of the UK.

Dafydd Rhys, S4C Director of Content said:

"We're proud to be able to provide this service which will give people across the world a taste of the Royal Welsh Show.

"The competitions that take place in the Main Ring and the shearing competitions in the Shearing Centre are amongst the most prestigious within the farming world, and we're delighted that we can give them a world-wide platform. The live streams are a great vehicle which enables us to take Wales out into the world."

Aled Jones, Assistant Chief Executive at the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society said:

"The live broadcasts that S4C are offering are of the highest importance to the Society, especially the extended coverage from the Main Ring and the Shearing Centre which attract worldwide interest.

"I'm aware that people living abroad have a great interest in the Show and look forward to being able to watch all the activity online this year. Hopefully S4C's live feeds will also attract more visitors to the Show in future."

S4C also has a Royal Welsh Show App. With an interactive map of the showground, information on how to get there and parking information, a timetable of the day’s events and competitions and the latest results, the App includes all the information you need to enjoy the Royal Welsh Show.
