New App shows that S4C is fired up for the digital future

08 January 2018

Amazon Fire users can now access top programmes directly through the newly released S4C app.

The Welsh broadcaster has launched its first app for Amazon Fire users today (8 January), to provide direct and easy access to Amazon Fire users to a wealth of drama, sport, documentaries, music, current affairs and children's and youth programmes live and on demand, with English subtitles available for a majority of programmes.

The S4C app is now available on the Amazon Fire service, and can be downloaded from today, Monday 8 January. The app gives greater prominence to the channel's content, easing access to watch a wealth of programmes that the channel has to offer live and on demand.

Among the highlights is the opportunity to catch up with the recent hit drama series Un Bore Mercher, starring Eve Myles in the lead role. This gripping drama is available in a binge-able box set until 28 January. And, every Thursday night, prepare to be blown away by one of the wonders of the world in all its vivid glory with Iolo Williams as he dives beneath the surface to explore the Great Barrier Reef in the new series, Iolo: Deifio yn y Barrier Reef, with the first episode available on demand now.

Owen Evans, S4C Chief Executive says; "This app opens a new avenue for viewers to access our content with ease, to select any programmes from the entire S4C schedule to watch live or on demand via Amazon Fire. Our vision is for S4C to be included on as many platforms as possible, including all new-built Smart TV sets, which is vital for the availability of Welsh language content, and we are working to release an app for Samsung TVs in the coming weeks. Releasing these apps will be a big step in ensuring easy access to our service for users of two of the most popular Smart TV services in the UK, Samsung TV and Amazon Fire. This is part of S4C’s long-term digital vision."

S4C is available on all television viewing platforms in Wales, and across the UK on Sky, Freesat and Virgin TV. Programmes are also available live or on demand on s4c.cymru, BBC iPlayer, YouView tvplayer.com and the S4C App from Android and iOS devices.
