S4C and all3media international announce new partnership

31 July 2018

Leading independent distributor all3media international and Welsh broadcaster S4C have announced a new initiative which will see the two companies working together on the development and distribution of programming with global appeal.

The agreement will see all3media international and S4C, or their suppliers, developing at least one format, while one all3media international format will be chosen for adaptation for the S4C channel.

all3media international will work with S4C, and its key production suppliers, sharing expertise on market trends and development slate potential.

The aim will be to develop mutually beneficial drama for the global market, collaborating on co-funding where appropriate, also to work together in the non-scripted space on the co-funding and development of formats.

all3media international has achieved significant success in the global marketplace with collaborations on scripted series produced for S4C – and its work was integral into turning the detective drama Y Gwyll/Hinterland, a Fiction Factory Films production for S4C with Tinopolis, all3media international and BBC Wales, into a major procedural brand.

The show, which ran for three seasons, has garnered huge critical acclaim globally.

The two companies are also involved in the recent launch Craith/Hidden - Severn Screen for S4C, BBC Wales and BBC Four - which has had an Official Screenings at Content London and Berlinale and was featured at the Monte Carlo TV Festival via all3media international. Both series have secured sales in Europe, Asia Pacific and North America.

Amanda Rees, S4C Creative Content Director said, “This initiative will have major benefits for S4C and will give our suppliers a route to market, whilst providing all3media international with a proof of concept. We have a track record of profitable and harmonious working with all3media international and look forward to a formal relationship that will take high quality Welsh content to a wider audience and provide our viewers with new and exciting formats.”

Rachel Glaister, EVP Brands at all3media international, commented, “We are very pleased to strengthen our relationship with the team at S4C with this new partnership, which will allow us to expand our collaborations and brand - building in scripted and into non-scripted.

“We are terrifically proud that the brand “Welsh Noir” is now firmly on the global content map; the genre is beloved by genre fans from countries as diverse as Iceland to Japan, Australia and the USA – so we are delighted to have this opportunity to work with more of the talent that S4C commissions from Wales.”
