Un Bore Mercher (Keeping Faith) up for top international drama award

Highly successful S4C drama Un Bore Mercher (Keeping Faith) has been nominated in the Best Non-English Drama category of the C21 International Drama Awards.

Filmed in west Wales, the series was originally developed by S4C as Un Bore Mercher.The series was shown on network television across the UK this summer - the first time a BBC Wales/S4C joint TV drama production has gone out on BBC One.

It received outstanding ratings and Keeping Faith went on to break BBC iPlayer records.

Un Bore Mercher (Keeping Faith) tells the story of lawyer, wife and mother Faith Howells (Eve Myles) as she fights to find the truth behind the sudden disappearance of her husband.

Produced by Vox Pictures, the drama series has already won three Bafta Cymru Awards including best actress for Eve Myles, original music (Amy Wadge and Laurence Love Greed) and writer (Matthew Hall). A second series is now in production.

S4C Director of Content Amanda Rees said that she was delighted with the nomination: "This is excellent news for everyone who was a part of this amazing project – we are so proud of what Un Bore Mercher (Keeping Faith) has achieved. It is testament to the strong team work of broadcasters in Wales and of course the outstanding acting and producing talents that our country has to offer."

The winners will be announced during C21's International Drama Summit at St Pancras Renaissance Hotel, London on the evening of Wednesday November 28.

S4C Drama Commissioner Gwawr Lloyd said: "The C21 International Drama Awards are hugely respected – they are by the broadcasting industry, for the broadcasting industry. Being nominated in such a competitive category by a panel of international judges when the standard of the competition is so high is a great honour.

"Un Bore Mercher (Keeping Faith) is a series which takes Wales, our stories and our talent to a new audience internationally which shows that there is a great demand for contemporary Welsh drama."

Adrian Bate of Vox Pictures said: "Vox Pictures are honoured to be considered for this prestigious award especially considering the other esteemed nominees. Un Bore Mercher was originally conceived and developed as a Welsh language series so it would seem fitting that we are being recognised in this category and is testament to all those who have contributed to this hugely successful series."

C21's International Drama Awards feature 11 categories and are judged by more than 100 of the world's leading drama commissioners.
