S4C welcomes the Hargreaves Review’s recognition of the Channel’s central role in the creative industries in Wales. The report reflects the fact that S4C has been and continues to be, at the heart of the nation’s economic and cultural life.
We are pleased that the review reports S4C’s contribution to the success of the independent television production sector throughout Wales and praises the channel’s leading role in development and training within the industry.
S4C looks forward to being forthright and prominent in sharing its vision and strategies in the field of broadcasting and is eager to work with the Welsh Assembly Government to build on the references in the review.
Professor Hargreaves’ comments about the channel have been welcomed by John Walter Jones, Chairman of the S4C Authority. “The recognition to S4C’s central role within the creative industries in Wales confirms the strength and accuracy of the channel’s vision for the future.
