First chance to see Aberystwyth drama-documentary, before broadcast on S4C

02 April 2013

People in the Aberystwyth area are being given the first chance to see an S4C drama-documentary filmed in the town before it appears on TV.

The one-off drama-documentary Y Bont will be premiered at Drwm, National Library of Wales, on Thursday 4 April at 7.00pm. A translation service will be available.

It is a free event, all are welcome, and you do not need to reserve a seat.

This year, on a special day in February, Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru (the Welsh-language National Theatre) staged a unique play on the streets of Aberystwyth which reconstructed a protest on Trefechan Brigde in 1963. This was the Welsh Language Society's first ever protest.

The TV drama-documentary Y Bont is based on the events of that day in February, and follows the story of two young ex lovers, Dwynwen and Kye, as they come together on the streets of the town. Both must make decisions - about love and language.

Y Bont is a production by Green Bay Media in partnership with Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru, and will be broadcast on S4C on Sunday 7 April 8.00pm. (English subtitles)
