S4C celebrates success with a second chance to see hit-drama series in Welsh

15 June 2018

S4C is celebrating the success of the drama co-production as hit series Un Bore Mercher / Keeping Faith is announced for a BBC One network broadcast.

Developed by S4C, and co-commissioned with BBC Wales, the drama which has gripped viewers across the UK, was first shown in Welsh on S4C in November 2017.

Now, the channel is offering fans another opportunity to see the series, in the Welsh language with subtitles, with a TV broadcast and on the catch-up platform, s4c.cymru

From Monday 18 June, the eight-part series will be shown every Monday and Wednesday at 11:00pm and every episode will be available to watch on S4C catch-up and BBC iPlayer.

Filmed back to back in Welsh and English, the series tells the story of lawyer, wife and mother Faith (Eve Myles) as she fights to find the truth behind the sudden disappearance of her husband, Evan, played by Eve’s real-life husband Bradley Freegard.

S4C's Creative Content Director, Amanda Rees says: “This is great news not only for S4C but also for viewers across the UK. We’re delighted that a S4C and BBC Wales joint production is being shown on BBC Network for the first time ever and it’s a testament to what’s possible when two national broadcasters come together to make great things happen. Un Bore Mercher is an emotional journey of love, secrets and lies which has already captured the imagination of audiences in Wales and further afield. Now, many more can go on that journey.”

At the 2018 Hay Festival, a session was held to discuss the series’ success, with writer Mathew Hall and lead actor Eve Myles discussing the merits and success of the show. During the session, held to a packed audience, Eve Myles paid tribute to S4C’s faith in the series from the beginning. Eve Myles said: “If it wasn’t for S4C, Keeping Faith would never have been made. How lucky are we that we get to do a show in two languages.”

Co-written by Matthew Hall (Kavanagh QC) and Anwen Huws (Gwaith Cartref, Pobol y Cwm), Un Bore Mercher was filmed on location in the Vale of Glamorgan and Carmarthenshire. A cast of some of Wales’ best loved talent include Matthew Gravelle (Broadchurch, 35 Diwrnod, Y Gwyll/Hinterland), Mali Harries (Y Gwyll/Hinterland), Mark Lewis Jones (Byw Celwydd, Stella, National Treasure) and Aneirin Hughes (Y Gwyll/Hinterland).
