S4C has today announced a new pilot scheme called S4C Lleol (S4C Local) with the aim of enabling a network of local producers to create more content for their communities.

The pilot will start with a new partnership with TeliMôn with a view to create appealing local content that will serve communities and promote the use of the Welsh language.

As well as reaching new audiences, the scheme will work on developing new talent and producers.

TeliMôn will produce weekly content that will appear on their social media. They will also have access to content about the island and its people by S4C, and the ultimate idea is to publish local content on S4C Clic.

Tudur Evans of TeliMôn said that S4C is a perfect partner as both bodies share the same values within the industry by promoting and strengthening the Welsh language within communities:

"This pilot partnership with S4C is a new chapter in the story of TeliMôn.

"Not only will it help to expand our programme production and audience, but it will also help to continue to nurture local talent, provide economic support to freelancers and bring the people of Anglesey closer together as a community.

"We are grateful for the opportunity to be the first organisation to launch this partnership with S4C that we believe could help develop the media industry in Wales into a new era." said Tudur

Over the next few months S4C will be looking to establish two pilot schemes similar to TeliMôn in other parts of Wales.

"S4C Lleol is part of our long-term digital strategy of putting viewers at the heart of our services" said Owen Evans, S4C's Chief Executive.

"We want to create a closer relationship with our audience and promote the use of the Welsh language at grassroots level.

"As a public broadcaster we have an important role to play in serving communities and local areas.

"Our intention is to build on local initiatives developing skills and encouraging new producers into the industry.

"We are delighted to launch this scheme with TeliMôn and look forward to reaching out to many other areas as well during the year."
