Where should I start?

Unless you've been tasked with watching a particular programme for a class assignment, our best advice to you is to watch the type of programme you usually enjoy. We try hard to make sure that S4C really does have something for everyone, so find what works for you. Here are some starting points:

  • If you can, use the S4C Clic Player to watch as it will help you keep track of your watching.
  • There are categories on the S4C Clic menu to help you find what you're looking for, or you can use the search function at the top or A-Y listing at the bottom, if you're looking for a particular programme.

Know your brands

  • Cyw

    Cyw

Cyw is our brand for pre-school children, so watch with your littlest ones and you might find that some of them will have language simple enough to follow.

  • Stwnsh

    Stwnsh

Stwnsh is our brand for school-age children under 16 – these programmes will have some clear and simple language, so while you might not be the target audience some of these programmes might be a good way for you to gain confidence.

  • Hansh

    Hansh

Hansh is our brand aimed at young people aged 16–25: exciting, challenging and thought-provoking with lots of humour. Some of these programmes contain challenging content, so please do take note of the content warnings if that might be an issue for you.

  • Lŵp

    Lŵp

Lŵp is our brand that highlights new and cutting-edge performers in Wales' eclectic and vibrant music scene.

All of these brands also have a strong presence on social media, so you can find them on YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok…

You'll find that alongside the filters for Cyw, Stwnsh and Hansh there are two other filters

  • Walter Presents

    Walter Presents

These are high-quality dramas from around the world with either Welsh or English subtitles available. Great for reading practice!

  • Learners

    Learners

Use the categories on S4C Clic to help you to find something to enjoy

  • Sport

    Sport

For those of you that love your sport, S4C has a lot to offer. You will find coverage here that you won't find anywhere else of Welsh rugby and football, as well as sports such as rally driving or cycling, and high-quality sports documentaries.

  • News

    News

As well as our daily news bulletins, which put Wales at the centre of the reporting, we have current affairs and discussion programmes (such as Y Byd ar Bedwar, Y Byd yn ei Le and Pawb a'i Farn) and individual documentaries that look at events at home and abroad through a Welsh lens.

  • Entertainment

    Entertainment

This is the place to come to find programmes that are suited to your interests (such as cooking or gardening), competition shows (such as Am Dro! or the sports competition Pen/Campwyr), feelgood factual programmes (such as Priodas Pum Mil or Gwesty Aduniad) and chat shows (such as Sgwrs Dan y Lloer or the rugby-themed Jonathan).

  • Factual and Arts

    Factual and Arts

If you fancy something a little more serious, here you can find fascinating documentaries that bring you stories with an insight into Wales and its people. The Drych series, for example, are one-off hour-long programmes giving a really in-depth look at unique individuals and situations; series such as Cynefin, Straeon y Ffin or Pobol y Rhondda help us to learn a little more about what make different areas of Wales so special.

  • Drama

    Drama

As well as our popular and long-running soap operas Pobol y Cwm (set in south Wales) and Rownd a Rownd (set in north Wales), we regularly produce high-quality drama series, such as Y Gwyll/Hinterland, Yr Amgueddfa or Y Golau/Light in the Hall. Sometimes there are two versions made of a series – a Welsh one and an English one – and the Welsh one will always appear on S4C first, so you'll be ahead of the game.
