Client: Western Power Distribution

Overview

To encourage awareness of science and to engage with children in a way which makes it exciting and approachable.

Strategy

WPD worked with S4C to sponsor a children's science series called Y Meicrosgôp Hud (The Magic Microscope).

In addition to the on-air sponsorship of the series, WPD produced a series of accompanying worksheets for children to do simple experiments - which complemented the programme content. These worksheets were available for schools in an information pack and could also be downloaded from the S4C Planed Plant website. A 'wacky' theatre style roadshow presentation visited schools across Wales with children able to get involved with the actors and to try their hand at different activities.

Result

Sponsorship of Y Meicrosgôp Hud enabled us to reach our goal of raising awareness among thousands of Welsh children very quickly and demonstrate that science can be fun.
